Frequently Asked Questions
Fertility Alternatives is a full service, boutique, surrogacy and egg donation agency. I have been facilitating arrangements, nationally and internationally, for over 27 years, longer than most agencies out there today. I have built hundreds of relationships with fertility clinics and their patients.
As the president, facilitator, and an experienced surrogate and egg donor, I understand the egg donation process from first-hand experience. With years of expertise in the field, you will receive one-on-one personal support and regular assistance throughout the process. You are not just a number.
You will be legally represented by one of our competent experienced, and independent attorney referrals to make sure you have a clear understanding of your rights and obligations.
I personally oversee the Fund Management Accounts to be sure your compensation and expenses are paid in a timely manner.
Your travel arrangements will made by me, and your travel compensation paid to you, in advance of your trip, making the process significantly easier.
Compensation offered by my clients is one of the highest in the nation for well-qualified candidates.
You are free to contact me anytime, at any stage of the process for assistance, questions, concerns, and resolutions. I typically develop close, friendly relationships with the Egg Donors in my program, and most decide to stay with the program to be matched again. Many stay in touch and keep me updated on their own lives and children, after they have “retired” themselves from egg donation.
In general, fertility and egg quality significantly decline after the age of 30. In addition, with each year of age, eggs become increasingly prone to chromosomal abnormalities leading to defective embryos.
No matter how healthy our bodies are or how good we feel, our egg quality and number will continue to diminish with age.
IVF clinics highly recommend to their patients that their donor's be under the age of 30 if at all possible, with some exceptions made to age 33 with a good Amh blood level.
In order to minimally qualify for the donor program, you must be between the ages of 20-28, with minimal family genetic health or psychological issues.
Inexperienced donors 29-32 wishing to apply will require an AMH test done with their local medical provider/lab before approval with our program.
All candidates must be physically and emotionally healthy, drug & nicotine free, must be at low risk for any and all infectious diseases, and use a reliable form of birth control if sexually active.
Candidates must be mature, reliable, committed, and able to attend some morning clinical appointment on very specific days of their menstrual cycle.
In addition, a potential donor must not need or be on any medications for depression, anxiety, or ADD/ADHD.
Candidates using birth control, must not be using Nexplanon implant, or injectable hormone birth control. If they remove/ stop these methods of birth control, they may apply.
Candidates must be committed to the process, and willing to undergo stringent infectious disease, genetic, drug, psychological and fertility testing after she is chosen by Intended Recipients.
Candidates will need to have a flexible schedule in order to attend a number of time specific, clinical visits throughout the cycle, and be available for regular communications between themselves, the fertility clinic, and the agency to keep things running smoothly.
Travel will be necessary for 1-2 days for screening, and again 9-11 days for the time of the egg retrieval procedure for the best chance at being chosen by potential Recipients. (All expenses paid.) Candidates who have recent tattoos or body piercings can still apply anytime, however, you may need to wait up to one year before you can actually start a cycle, so it is recommended that you avoid any new tattoos or unusual body piercings, if you want to be chosen as an egg donor, sooner than later. Candidates understand there is compensation for their time and efforts as a donor, however, it is not their primary motivation. Candidates find satisfaction in helping others in this unique way. Candidates must be height/weight proportionate, and not severely overweight. BMI should not exceed 26.
Yes! You should certainly protect yourself from pregnancy while in the program.
You may use birth control pills, patches, rings, condoms, Copper IUD. Tied fallopian tubes are also acceptable. IUDs like Mirena and Kyleena are fine with most clinics.
You cannot be an egg donor with any semi-permanent hormonal birth control like, the arm implant (Nexplanon) or injectable birth control.
Birth control apparatus would need to be removed or injectable birth control series stopped, if, you are committed to being an egg donor.
My program is a personalized service working with Intended Parent candidates to match them with egg donors based on their personal and individual preferences.
Egg Banks pay donors to freeze their eggs and sells them to anyone who buys them. You have no information on how your eggs are used, where they are going, and the process is simply a business transaction. Information provided after your cycle is limited.
We do not work with Egg Banks nor do we bank or store your eggs for just anyone. You will be matched with real people who have a profile and who have chosen you specifically based on your own profile. They receive and create embryos with your eggs specifically for their family.
To be mindful about where your genetic material is going, you should stay away from egg banks.
